Krista and family

It’s been some time since I’ve featured an artist. In ode to Swedish Father’s Day week, I felt it was time to have a Swedish artist: jewelry designer and goldsmith, Krista Kretzschmar. She’s so talented, refined and original. Her bracelets are currently taking Stockholm by storm (last seen on the Swedish hit: Solsidan, click here). Krista’s most recently launched a line at Stockholm’s prestigious Svenskt Tenn, click here. With our puppy ,Henry, in mind, I chose a few of her dog and animal inspired pieces but, go to her site to see her broad line of creations. Her latest collection has drawn inspiration from the 1920s.

I have my eye on a pair of cuff links for my husband; for myself:something with her lions.

Although Krista is Swedish, her international education and eyes are evident. Krista’s said that she’s “inspired by her husband who’s from Switzerland and adorable daughter; different international designers, people of different ages, Japanese palettes and the unusual. Her goal is that her jewelry makes women feel beautiful and strong.”

Krista grew up in a creative and musical family and says that she’s always liked beautiful things. Objects of desire. Eye-candy and tokens of luxury. She remembers from the time she was a young girl, dreaming about crafting and shaping fine metal into fantastic shapes that are reflections of my mind.

Her work has added meaning to me: we first met Krista, just after she graduated from the renowned art school in Florence, Italy, “Le Arti Orafe;” when our children attended her mother’s Montessori pre-school in Stockholm. Krista is as lovely as she is talented. It’s been a privilege to watch her spread her wings!
