  • Sending Australia love .. I hope soft, gentle and sweet breezes bring rain, comfort, help, rest & connection. ........................ . I know you’ve seen these facts that share an estimated 1.25 billion animals have perished in Australia’s fires, including an estimated 30,000 koalas. I can’t stop thinking about it since I then read that the animals who have survived will also be facing starvation due to the loss of their habitat. It’s absolutely heartbreaking & pulled out my local eucalyptus for this koala art for you. . One person working to make a difference is Australian photographer Karen Rosenlunds - @kararosenlund has been sharing koala rescue photos all week; rescue news, and is making an impact through a fund she’s created that’s now raised $200k for KOALAs . .   • Peace + love. Full arms + full hearts . .. ————————————— . Did you still send holiday cards? Do you send holiday or New Year greetings? . . I love receiving & sending them; when I’m “home,” I love going through my mother & sister’s baskets of cards, too. I save them... and ... in the years I can’t get them out in early December, I adopt the French New Years card tradition: teen schedules; getting my 5 together —- same place; same time; during natural light; in clothes that mixed and matched appropriately — came and went this year 😅😂 *; so instead, I sketched a card while on the road. It was a one shot deal but, I enjoyed it so much: I think drawing on the road might help me to cement moments of our time together — pencil strokes and laughter, woven into merry memory making .... . This morning when I returned home with a pocket full of fresh flowers, found on my morning walk; I decided to extend the wish to you too; re-working it with foliage as my very last little new year wish to you. 😘🌸 .   • Swedes are so clever & have a holiday for everything! . . Yesterday was “Tjugondag Knut” (20th day of Jul” or “Julgransplundring” Christmas tree plundering day)which means, the holidays are officially over, the tree is down and it’s time to return to say hello!. . . This is my street exactly a year ago! I wish we had this snow but it’s unusually warm this January. This was “the most commented on photo of 2019” and felt like the perfect way to return! . . Rather than “favorite or most liked,” I pulled out “most commented” to start the year because —- commenting means we connected — & it brings me true joy when I experience community. . PS: thank you for your patience as I took a little IG sabbatical!   • Paper Star, twirling wreath and wagging tail wishes! . We’re slowly getting holiday ready but had anticipated the house looking more like Santa’s workshop by now. I’ve had our gingerbread houses, cut, baked and ready to go all week! Crossing fingers we’ll do a Saturday assembly & cookie baking. That to me is a holiday must: do you have must-dos, too? . ————— PS: I’ve been sketching on my iPad w/ @procreate this December to relax at night. Although, I like the feel of an actual pencil and paint; i also love the challenge of landing in a new technique &how simple it is to just sketch away there!
